ChildLight Yoga Primer for Preschool Educators

Introductory workshop for preschool educators and caregivers offered as in-service professional development workshop.


Toddler On FloorIn this introductory 2.5 hour workshop, preschool educators and caregivers will gain an understanding of the many benefits of yoga and mindfulness-based activities as it relates to educating and nurturing the whole child. Through interactive discussion and lots of playful, experiential practice, attendees will learn simple breathing activities, playful yoga postures, song and movement sequences, and games and relaxation techniques appropriate and engaging for children ages 2 - 5 years. With these tools, preschool educators will be empowered to create a positive, peaceful, productive learning environment as their students learn important skills for self-regulation that can be carried with them throughout their lives.

 

Materials:
Attendees will receive an illustrated packet of activities and sequences covered in the workshop, continuing education suggestions for further study and training, and a list of helpful resources and materials, many of which are available in the ChildLight Yoga boutique.


Certificate and Continuing Education Hours:
Participants will receive a certificate of completion that can be used to procure continuing education credits or hours through their respective credentialing organizations (please check with your credentialing org).

In addition:

  • Workshop hours are valid for Yoga Alliance CE's.
  • When presented by Michelle James, an Early Childhood Master Professional Allied Professional, this workshop is valid for ongoing professional training hours through the NH DHHS Division for Children, Youth, and Families, Child Development Bureau
